Terms of service

Last updated: July 2026

These terms cover dog walking services provided by Barrie, trading as Henry’s Dog Walking Selby (“we”, “us”), in and around Selby, North Yorkshire. They’re written in plain English so both sides know where they stand.

1. Who we are

A personal dog walking service run by Barrie — not a franchise or multi-walker team. Contact: 07446 008359 (call, text or WhatsApp).

2. Bookings and meet-and-greet

  • Every new dog starts with a free meet-and-greet at your home (or as agreed).
  • Walks only start once we’re both happy with the plan, access, and your dog’s needs.
  • Days, times, solo or group walks, and pricing are confirmed before regular walks begin.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Tell us anything important about your dog (health, behaviour, recall, other animals, medication).
  • Keep vaccinations and parasite prevention up to date as appropriate for shared walks.
  • Provide safe access (keys, codes, alarms) and keep contact details current.
  • Make sure leads, collars, harnesses and tags are safe and fit correctly.

4. Our responsibilities

  • Walk your dog as agreed, with reasonable care and attention.
  • You get the same walker (Barrie) for agreed walks, unless we agree something different with you first.
  • Send photos and short updates during the walk where practical.
  • Handle keys carefully and only for agreed visits.
  • Hold public liability insurance suitable for the service (details available on request).

5. Weather and changes

Walks usually go ahead in normal rain. In extreme weather, ice, flooding, or conditions that would be unsafe for dogs or people, we may shorten, re-route, or reschedule the walk and will message you as soon as we can.

6. Cancellations

There are no long lock-in contracts. Please give 48 hours’ notice where you can if you need to cancel or change a walk, so the slot can be offered to another dog. Repeated late cancellations may mean we need to review the arrangement.

7. Payment

Prices are as agreed for your package or walk type. Payment method and timing are confirmed when you book (for example weekly or monthly). Late payment may pause future walks until the account is clear.

8. Health and emergencies

If your dog becomes unwell or is injured on a walk, we will contact you (and an emergency contact if you’ve given one). If we can’t reach you and the situation is urgent, we may take reasonable steps such as visiting a local vet. You remain responsible for veterinary costs unless agreed otherwise in writing.

9. Liability

We take care of your dog, but dogs are living animals and outdoor walks involve some risk (for example wildlife, other dogs, weather, unexpected behaviour). We are not responsible for loss or damage beyond what the law says we must cover, or beyond the limits of our public liability insurance, except where the law does not allow that limit. Website content is general information and not a binding quote until we confirm in writing or by message.

10. Photos

We send walk photos to you as part of the service. We may also use anonymised or pack photos on social media or this site for the business. If you prefer your dog not to appear in public posts, tell us and we’ll respect that.

11. Privacy

How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy notice.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page is the current one. Ongoing clients will be told about important changes that affect their walks.

These terms are a practical summary for a small local service. They are not a substitute for formal legal advice. Governing law: England and Wales.
